Welcome
Hi friend,
All too often, I see writers trying to squeeze themselves into someone else’s mould — believing they must write in a particular way, follow a specific trajectory, or tell a certain kind of story to be “worthy.” But there is no one way to write a book… and there is no one way to become an author.
I’ve always been a “choose your own adventure” kind of person, so I designed a creative ecosystem you can enter at your point of need, and I’ll meet you there.
Let me walk you through the studio, show you how everything fits together, and help you find the place that feels right for you.
Where will you begin?
Work with me
The Little Black Book of Publishing invites you to orient yourself by gaining clarity around what it actually takes to write and publish a book in Australia, and to understand the publishing landscape – the industry norms, expectations, and pathways that shape the journey to publication. It answers what you need to know, what matters, and why.
The Little Black Book of Publishing is your go‑to guide for everything you need to write, pitch, and publish a book in Australia.
It’s the culmination of more than a decade of knowledge and experience, designed to help you write your debut book and embark on the publishing journey with confidence.
Inside, you’ll find practical steps, insider knowledge, and industry truths that are usually kept behind closed doors — what’s really happening behind publishing’s walls, not what people assume happens.
This book offers a clear understanding of the rules, pathways, expectations, timelines, and industry norms — finally answering the question: “What does it actually take to publish a book in Australia?”
It’s your first step toward becoming the writer who can carry a book from idea to publication.
Studio services support the how – where theory becomes practice, joy returns to the creative process, and progress from idea to publication becomes tangible.

The Studio framework
Meet GRACE
GRACE is a framework and philosophy that centres curiosity and joy in our creativity and writing practices. It supports beginnings, messy middles, and returns by rejecting dominant narratives of scarcity and perfectionism, and provides writers with the knowledge, tools, and personalised mentorship needed to build writing practices that are grounded, aligned and alive.
By naming and prioritising what matters and valuing input over output, writers can focus on being in the work — creating in the space between process and play, where theory becomes practice and imperfection is allowed without punishment.
Grace is the ability to meet ourselves with curiosity and self‑compassion. It is the space between ambition and limitation, dreams and reality, frustration and hope. It is permission to be human — to fall short, adjust expectations, and meet ourselves where we are.
GRACE is uniquely, unmistakably Debut Books.
States of the Writer names the emotional phases of the creative process, helping you to understand and navigate the non-linear, often messy inner landscape that underpins writing a book and the embodied experience of creation. Meet the states →
The Vision Method is the structural heart of the work. It takes a big picture approach to transforming the story in your mind into a fully realised manuscript, breaking the journey into manageable, actionable steps by guiding you through letting go of the outcome, nurturing self-belief, and trusting that you are capable of doing the work.
