Work with me

Creativity is not a performance — it’s a practice.

The dominant narrative

In creative industries, it’s easy to turn all our focus toward output — it’s the ethos of capitalism, after all. It can be difficult to separate ourselves from its hold; writers are not separate from their context, and writing does not exist in a vacuum. Our creativity is in an ever‑changing relationship between ourselves and our environments.

Creative ecosystems – like Debut Books – are relational systems that prioritise sustainable creation, rather than focusing on constant, forced extraction. When we choose to be a part of this kind of system, we stop measuring our worth by output. We stop feeling perpetually behind. We begin resisting the dominant systems that taught us to exhaust ourselves for visibility or validation.

Our work becomes a contribution, not a commodity.

Our creativity becomes a relationship, not a resource.

Our writing becomes a place of belonging.

Mentorship with Debut Books

When you choose to partner with Debut Books, you are unlearning dominant narratives around success and worthiness. You are choosing a relationship that honours your humanity as much as your craft — one that helps you break open the parts of yourself that have been kept small, and welcomes joy back in.

I believe in supporting writers by answering what they need to know to navigate the writing and publishing process — what matters, and why — with guidance that meets you at your point of need, adapts as your writing life evolves, and normalises imperfect progress.

Mentorship with Debut Books is about cultivating a sustainable writing practice — one that continually creates the conditions for you to show up to the work, where progress becomes tangible and creative resilience is strengthened — reminding you that you are capable of doing the work.

Why writers come here

Our narrative identity — the internal story we tell ourselves about who we are — is often fragile because it lacks the external scaffolding or “proof” that validates our writer identity. We exist in a vulnerable space between inner knowing and outer recognition.

There is no one way to write a book — in craft or practice — and because of this, we are vulnerable to identity disruption.

Working with me helps you build the scaffolding that supports both the outer journey — the visible, trackable steps that move a book from idea to publication — and the inner one, the emotional landscape that makes the creative process meaningful.

Every time you finish a draft, you become someone capable of writing the next. Every draft, every manuscript — even if it never gets published — grows you in ways that matter. It strengthens your ability to return to the work, navigate it again, and become more resilient, skilled, and grounded in your identity as a writer.

Why work with me?

Working with me means stepping into a creative ecosystem that offers whole-person support instead of surface level fixes and false promises. You’re met at your point of need with flexible, adaptable guidance.

You won’t move through the ecosystem in order — you begin where you are, shift as your needs evolve, and return whenever the work asks for deeper support.

Together, we’ll normalise imperfect progress and honour the ways our relationship with the work we create changes over time, remaining open to changing our writing practice when it no longer works for us, and accepting that in different seasons, our output will vary too.

I’m here to help you become the writer who can carry a book into the world — not just write it.
